TREND
TREND is an acronym for Turning Resources and Energy in New Directions. TREND promotes and environment for fun without the use of alcohol, tobacco, and drugs.
At the intermediate school TREND is a group for sixth grade students to participate in a monthly social gathering. Usually there are 50-70 participants. There are no academic requirements to join the group. Typically we meet August through April, after school for a hour on Wednesday’s for an hour meeting. At the meetings the students learn how to have fun without drugs, alcohol and tobacco. They also learn to serve their community and school.
After the first meeting, the students elect 5 officers or representatives. The representatives help to plan the activities for the upcoming year. The representatives meet during advisory once a month or as needed.
TREND has always been a great group of students that represent the intermediate very well.
