Return to School Plan 2021-2022
Attached as a PDF, is the Festus R-VI 'Return to School' plan for the 2021-22 school year. Click here to view the plan.
The 'Return to School' plan outlines mitigation protocols that will be implemented at the onset of our new school year both at the District level and within each school attendance center.
While there may be individual protocols for which all may not agree upon, a key thought to keep in mind is that even with mitigation protocols in effect, is that most school year traditions will return, although possibly with slight modifications.
The immediate emphasis of our 'Return to School' plan has a focus on the actual start of our new school year with activities such as 'meet the teacher night', 'the first day of school', evening activities, etc. Once the school year is off to a smooth beginning, it is our hope that further easing of limitations/restrictions can be made gradually throughout the first semester. Of course, it is vital to take things one day at a time. With that in mind, rest assured that it remains our goal to have traditional activities such as Veterans Day Assemblies; Grandparents Day; and Homecoming. Yet, specifics on exact dates and protocols will be put forth at a later time as the date(s) near.
Without a doubt, the main question asked by all stakeholders is simply 'Will Facial Coverings Be Required'. As you will read within the 'Return to School' plan, Festus R-VI School District will begin the 2020-21 school year with facial coverings Highly Recommended but Optional. Yet, I encourage everyone to carefully read the entire 'Return to School' plan as there WILL BE many mitigation protocols implemented and monitored all with the aim of keeping our students, staff, and school community safe and healthy. Upon review of the 'Return to School' plan, the last page of the document lists the contact information of individuals that can answer specific questions you may have on a particular topic.
The first student attendance day for the 2021-22 school year will be Monday, August 23, 2021.
As always, feel free to reach out to me with any thoughts or questions. As was the case during the 2020-21 school year, while it will not be an easy task, I remain confident that Festus R-VI will be successful in our collective efforts to provide a safe and healthy learning environment each day for our students and staff.
Educationally,
