Coach Jeff MontgomeryFestus High School Head Softball Coach Jeff Montgomery will be inducted into the Missouri High School Fastpitch Coaches Association (MHSFCA) Hall of Fame in early 2025. Montgomery began coaching softball at Festus in 1998, the inaugural year for the sport at the school. Over 26 seasons, he has amassed an impressive record of 413-274. His teams have won five district titles, six conference titles, and achieved a fourth-place finish in the state in 2012.
"I am very proud of this program,” said Montgomery. “We have had some very competitive teams. Many young ladies have graduated, gone on to become great people, and taken on leadership roles in their communities. I enjoy working with young people a lot.”
During his tenure at Festus, Montgomery has coached 36 players who signed letters of intent to play softball in college. He has guided nine all-state players, five Conference Players of the Year, and six STLToday All-Metro athletes. He currently serves on the Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) Advisory Committee for Softball and has previously contributed to the rankings committee and assisted with the All-Region Committee.
Montgomery has spent all 30 years of his career in education within the Festus School District. In addition to coaching softball, he has coached basketball, football, and is currently the head baseball coach.
Montgomery will be the 41st high school softball coach inducted into the MHSFCA Hall of Fame. The banquet and induction ceremony, originally scheduled for January 4 in Columbia, was postponed due to inclement weather. A new date for the event will be announced soon.
